Local reggae artiste Chantelle Ernandez has stirred the sensibilities of music lovers with the release of her single ‘Satisfaction’. The song, which has been favourably received by radio, has been generating significant buzz and winning over new fans for the rising artiste. ‘Satisfaction’ follows up on her recently released 5-track, Chris Lynch-produced EP titled ‘My Forever’, which is available on iTunes and Virgin online stores.

Ernandez, who is no stranger to the music industry, has toured extensively as a member of many veteran musicians’ backing vocals outfit. Her professional career anteceded the turn of the century with a stint as a member of teen pop group Essence. The studio beckoned when the group was invited to record demos at the Grafton Music Complex for renowned producer Mikey Bennett.

Not surprisingly, her foray into music started in the genre of gospel at the beginning of her secondary level education. She continued on this path, which led to her becoming lead vocalist of Essence. She went on to complete studio sessions with the reggae band Gumption. During one session, she was introduced to producer Michael Fletcher – musical director to international recording artiste Shaggy. He produced the then 16-year-old Ernandez’s first solo recording, ‘Something Inside My Heart’.

Over the years she has provided harmonies for several reggae and dancehall acts including Gregory Isaac, Mickey Dread, Toots Hibbert, Max Romeo, Ernie Smith, Prezident Brown, Norris Man, Jah Mason, Mr. Vegas, Fantan Mojah, Perfect, Lutan Fyah, Anthony Cruz, Chuck Fenda, Natty King, Lymie Murray, Chrisinti, Lenn Hammond and Courtney John (formerly “Yogie”).

After touring the Americas with international reggae group the Wailers, Ernandez departed to focus on her solo career. Her many experiences have served her well, and she is now poised to satisfy her expanding fan base with her powerful vocals. Ernandez, who is contracted to the independent London-based record label Necessary Mayhem, has confirmed dates to perform across Europe and the Americas in the near future.
