As the sun descended on the western Jamaica skyline on August 7, reggae singer Siccature ‘Jah Cure’ Alcock and media personality/fitness expert Kamila McDonald exchanged solemn and endearing wedding vows at a ceremony held in the Beach Hall of the Tryall Club in Hanover. Love satiated the sultry summer air, and the family members, close friends and entertainment industry types assembled in the venue were soon covered in the warm, surreal glow emanating from the couple’s formal union of hearts.
The beautiful bride walked down the aisle to the soulful strains of Dionne Warwick’s “I’ll Never Love This Way Again”, and the sight of her husband-to-be clearly filled her up with emotion. Earlier, Jah Cure made the effort to greet as many of the guests as he could while walking down the aisle, offering smiles, handshakes and hugs before giving the gathering a general wave.
The “sealing and signing of the lifetime journey of love” between Jah Cure and Kamila was done in the tradition of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, and included special vestments as well as ceremonial activities and symbolic observances.
Cecile Barker, founder of the Miami-based record label SoBe Entertainment, to which Jah Cure is signed, was the Best Man, while Kamila’s sister Kimani McDonald was the Maid of Honour. Among the groomsmen were Andrew Alcock, Bryan Beckford, Trevor James, Keznamdi McDonald, Curtis Jones and Phillip Bernard, while the bridesmaids included Kelissa McDonald, Tanya Beckford, Shaala Haynes, Zanisha Sooman, Robyn Thompson and Shakisha O’Connor.
Below is the song released by Jah Cure on his wedding day for his bride.
On August 10, the happy bride tweeted the following:
“I feel like the luckiest girl in the world! Just got married 2 my best friend—the 1 I laugh with, live for, dream with & love unconditionally.”
“Thank you all for your amazing outpour of love, support and well wishes…lots of love from Mrs. Alcock ;)”
