Yoplait, through local distributor Wisynco, have once again partnered on the “Save Lids to Save Lives” campaign to support breast cancer awareness and raise funds for the Jamaica Cancer Society (JCS). The spokesperson for the campaign is singer and actress Cherine Anderson, with strong support coming from celebrities such as Tami Chynn, Wayne Marshall, D’Angel, Yendi Phillips, Paula-Anne Porter-Jones, Jennifer ‘Jenny Jenny’ Small, ZJ Liquid, Michael Anthony Cuffe, Olympic gold medalist Deon Hemmings and 2010 Yoplait spokesperson Sara Lawrence.

The public can support the campaign during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October by purchasing special pink Yoplait yogurt 6oz cups, with $8 from each purchase going to the JCS. Wisynco & Yoplait have pledged a minimum donation of $500,000 to the JCS. This year’s theme is “Taking Care of the Women in our Life”, which seeks to actively bring men on board.

As part of the campaign, Yoplait and Wisynco will visit major town centres across Jamaica in the “Carry the Message” island tour. Four cycling clubs (Cutters, Endurance, May Pen and Breakaway) and popular personalities will take part in this tour, which will include stops in Mandeville (Oct 1 – Shopper’s Fair, Caledonia Rd), Montego Bay (Oct. 15 – Mega Mart), Ocho Rios (Oct. 22 – General Foods) and end in Kingston (Oct. 29 – Lee’s Food Fair, Red Hills Rd).

Breast Cancer Awareness Month highlights the importance of early detection as the best defence in the fight against cancer. All women are encouraged to do regular breast self-examination and routine screening as recommended by your doctor or the JCS, based on your age and family history of breast cancer.
