It’s that time of year again when words are forged and sharpened by deejays in preparation for lyrical warfare at Sting – the entertainment calendar event widely referred to as “The Greatest One Night Reggae Show on Earth”. Come December 26, Sting 2011 promises to build on its legacy of clashes in an effort redeem itself after a lacklustre showing in 2010, when organisers Supreme Promotions decided to go radically against the grain and promote “peace” as the theme.

Sting promoter Isaiah Laing has indicated that based on popular demand, the show will embrace the professional rivalries and lyrical confrontations that have made it what it is today. The stage has been set at Jamworld for Kiprich vs Merciless, Specialist vs Hurricane, Iyara vs Deva Bratt, Tony Matterhorn vs Twin of Twins, and a possible face-off between Bounty Killer and Beenie Man. The usual suspects will be featured on the bill, but ongoing legal troubles will preclude the presence of Vybz Kartel and Ninja Man at the show.
