Guinness pours on the action with ‘The Expendables’

“Greatness” was the common thread that linked the star-studded cast of the Hollywood blockbuster The Expendables and the world-acclaimed brew Guinness, which hosted a special premiere of the movie at Carib Cinema on August 13 under the auspices of local distributor Red Stripe/Diageo.

The specially invited guests included recently reconciled dancehall greats Bounty Killer and Beenie Man, who exchanged greetings in a moment that was way too quick to be captured on camera. Dancehall diva Tifa, Natalie Storm, D’Angel and Richie Loop were among the other artistes who joined the Guinness team at the premiere. Guinness promotional girls ensured that guests had their tickets for snacks and beverages ahead of the start of the movie.

Misguided or uninformed persons who came out to enjoy a flick with a cogent plot, engaging dialogue and solid acting performances with great on scene chemistry would realise soon enough that The Expendables was not that movie. Boasting an ensemble cast of aging action movie stars  such as Sylvester Stallone, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke and Jet Li, with cameos from Bruce Willis and Arnold Swarzenegger, the film appealed to the fans of the ‘shoot ’em up’ genre. These fans cheered for each sanguineous scene and over-the-top kill between sips from complimentary cups of the dark brew.
