Jamaican model, recording artiste and actress Nicole ‘Sky’ Grey’s latest film “Restless City” opened in limited release on April 27 in New York, Los Angeles and Atlanta, and will expand to Chicago, D.C., Philadelphia, Detroit and Seattle on May 5. The film, which was an official selection at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, explores the story of 21-year-old Senegalese musician Djbirl (Sy Alassane) who tries to survive on “the fringes of New York City where music is his passion, life is a hustle, and falling in love is his greatest risk”.
His love interest, a prostitute named Trini, is played by Grey (more frequently referred to as Sky Nicole Grey). The film, which is being distributed by the African-American Film Festival Releasing Movement (AAFFRM), is directed by former fashion photographer and music video director, Andrew Dosunmu, with Bradford Young in charge of cinematography. “Restless City” is Grey’s second feature film role, following up on her turn as female lead in Storm Saulter’s “Better Mus’ Come”.
