After a successful launch in April, the second staging of the local hip-hop party and showcase #PayAttention will be held on Saturday, May 19, at the Heather’s Garden Restaurant, 9 Haining Road, starting at 8:00 p.m. The event will feature performances by local R&B artiste Tari Prime and hip-hop artistes Shermon Dadz and Five Steez. Music will be played by DJ Andre Young and Inztinkz, who thrilled the crowd at the last event with diverse selections.
There is no admission to enter #PayAttention, as it is free to the public. The bar at Heather’s Garden Restaurant will be offering drink specials, and food prepared by its chefs will also be on sale.
“We were tremendously pleased with the turnout at the first one. We intend to turn it up more in May by providing quality music you won’t hear anywhere else as well as compelling up-and-coming performers,” said event promoter Perry Burnett.
At the first #PayAttention, a sizeable gathering turned up to watch Dizzy the Ill One, KiD and Nomad Carlos in action. Dizzy the Ill One opened the showcase with a powerful performance full of interaction with the crowd, which thoroughly enjoyed his delivery and lyrical content. KiD hit the stage less than an hour later and carried the show onwards. Nomad Carlos closed the showcase with an exciting performance that had many in the crowd chanting his lyrics. His performance reached a high point when Alliance Next Generation (ANG) artiste, 3Hundred, appeared and they delivered their collabo ‘Yard Law’.
#PayAttention is the latest party series in Kingston, dedicated to providing a space for local Hip Hop artistes and fans of the genre.
