Armed with their boards and a shared passion for the sport, local and international surfers descended on Makka Beach in Southaven, Yallahs, St. Thomas on July 21 & 22 to master the waves and secure bragging rights, cash and Western Atlantic Pro Surf tour points at the 6th staging of the Makka Pro surfing competition, hosted by the Jamaica Surfing Association (JSA). This year’s winners were Jessie Heilman (men’s open), a first time entrant from the US, and Barbadian surfing sensation Chelsea Tuach (women’s open).

Barbadian Dane Mackie won the junior title ahead of American Nathan Behl and Jamaica’s Elishama Beckford, who was Jamaica’s best performer at the event. Below are scenes from the event.
