The national colours of gold, black and green dominated the streets of Jamaica in an overwhelming show of national pride that marked the spectacular celebration of the island’s 50th anniversary of independence from Britain. The festivities climaxed with the staging of the Grand Gala at the National Stadium on August 6, which was preceded by five days of fun-filled cultural activities at the Jamaica 50 Golden Jubilee Village at Independence Park.
