Eighteen-year-old Gina Hargitay is the winner of the Suzuki Miss Jamaica World 2013 pageant, which took place on Sunday, July 21 at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in St. James. The young Jamaican beauty, who wore the sash Miss Nirvana Magazine, topped the field of 25 contestants and won sectional prizes for Most Aware, Most Sociable, and Best Smile. Twenty-three year-old Jenaae Jackson, was first runner-up, while Amanda McCreath, 23, secured the second runner-up spot.



Born in the capital city of Kingston to a Jamaican mother and Hungarian father, Gina spent the first eight years of her life in the garden parish of St. Ann before going to school in London and travelling Europe. The Miss Jamaica World website lists her hobbies as painting, sculpting, drawing and singing. On her Facebook page, Gina expressed the view that beauty is in discovering your purpose in this world and fulfilling it.

“I think my purpose is to bring more awareness to causes such as the plight of abused children in Jamaica, underprivileged communities and cancer and I believe Miss Jamaica World can help to facilitate this goal.”
