Twenty-five seconds into her performance of Pink’s hit song “Try”, talented Jamaican songstress Tessanne Chin won over all four coaches on the second episode of Season 5 of The Voice, which aired on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 on NBC.  Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton, the coaches on the popular American reality television singing competition, showered Tessanne with superlatives at the end of her blind audition and immediately started their recruitment pitches to persuade her to join their respective teams.

All four coaches turned their chairs within the first 25 seconds of Tessanne’s performance. Christina Aguilera turned her chair after hearing the first two lines of the song.

“Man, you can easily win the voice this year. I don’t have a doubt in my mind, not a doubt,” said Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine, who was quite taken with Tessanne’s talent as well as her accent.

“My favourite music comes from where you’re from. Reggae music is the greatest thing in the world to me. It would have been the mistake of a lifetime to not turn around for you, ’cause you’ve got something crazy special…crazy…I want it. I want it bad,” Levine effused.

“You sung that song like a grown woman,” Cee Lo remarked, to which Tessanne smilingly replied, “Thank you Mr. Cee Lo, I am a grown woman.”

Cee Lo commented that Tessanne sung the song like a grown woman, while Blake Shelton revealed that he was fascinated by her while noting that she was far ahead of the game. Christina Aguilera, who was the first to turn her chair after Tessanne sang the first two lines of the song, described her as a powerhouse and an unbelievably talented vocalist with a “kind, warm sense” about her.

Faced with the moment of decision, Tessanne chose Levine, who showed the greatest enthusiasm at the prospect of having the Kingston-based singer in his camp. Levine was the winning coach in the inaugural season of The Voice, however, Shelton has been the winning coach for the past three seasons.
