Despite claiming line honours in Race 2 of the 2013–14 Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, Jamaica Get All Right was relegated into second place after a time redress of 1 hour and 11 minutes moved PSP Logistics into pole position. After 5,000 miles of racing and 27 days at sea, Race 2 culminated in an exciting finish into Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on October 6. Jamaica’s lead of 19 seconds was far from sufficient to secure the win, and although Quingdao crossed the line third, Henri Lloyd took the third podium position after a redress of 7 hours 15 minutes was applied.

Redress is tantamount to time credits to compensate for suspending racing while replenishing fresh water supplies in the Doldrums. Jamaica Get All Right Skipper, Pete Stirling, noted that while the boat was at the back of the pack coming into the Doldrums, he had his tactics planned the whole way in the race across the Atlantic Ocean from France to Brazil.

“Making our break out to the east and overtaking the fleet to take line honours in the final stages is a fantastic and memorable achievement for us all,” said Skipper Sterling.

The last yacht in the racing fleet is expected to arrive in Rio de Janeiro on October 9. Race 3, Leg 2 to Cape Town, South Africa, will start on Saturday, October 12.
