Pop artiste Tessanne Chin (@Tessanne ) edged closer to her dream Grammy performance when she took to the stage at the 2014 Soul Train Awards at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Jamaican vocalist – who reigned supreme in season 5 of (@NBCTheVoice ) – was among a group of artistes who paid tribute to American music legends Kool & the Gang in celebrating their stellar half century in the business.

In addition to Chin, the tribute enlisted the talents of Doug E. Fresh, Elle Varner, MC Lyte, Tamar Braxton, Joe, and Liv Warfield – with whom Chin duetted. A well-recieved performance by new jack swing quartet Jodeci, allayed the long-swirling rumour of the group’s reunion.

Chin’s commitment was not limited to performing, as she shared presenting duties with veteran (@CNN) anchor (@wolfblitzer). The Soul Train Awards is scheduled to air November 30 on (@BET)’s (@CentricTV).

The songbird recently wrapped ‘TessTober’ – charity and mini-concert tour dates. Chin performed acoustic sets in four major cities – in New York, Washington, DC, Philadelphia, and Boston. The sessions included tracks from her major-label debut ‘Count On My Love’ as well as old favourites. ‘Voice’ alum Kristen Merlin joined Chin for New York and Boston gigs.
