Jamaican hoop star Samardo Samuels has made a solid start to his second season in the Italian Basketball League, leading his club EA7 Emporio Armani Milan in three major statistical categories after the first five games. The 6’9”, 268-pound power forward/centre is the team’s top scorer with 14.8 points per game, and is also the leading rebounder (8.4) and shot blocker (1.2).

The Trelawny-born athlete is shooting a team high 63% from the field, and is averaging just under 25 minutes per contest. In the season opener against Vanoli Cremona on October 12, he registered a double-double on his way to scoring 22 points and pulling down 11 boards.

Samuels has had a big impact on Milan, contributing significantly to the club’s return to the top of the league in the 2013/2014 season after a drought of 18 years. The former NBA player for the Cleveland Cavaliers has also helped his current team to reach the quarterfinals of the Euroleague, a feat that was last achieved 16 years  ago.
