Jamaican singer Andru Donalds has journeyed a long way creatively and vocally since he released “Let’s Talk About It” – his last real solo album with all new material in 2001. Now he’s back again and bent on showcasing his rich mix of musical influences and styles with a brand new single called “Marble Eyes” and a pending album provocatively titled “Trouble In Paradise”.

Speaking during a Sky Lounge interview on German TV late last year, Donalds explained that after working as lead vocalist on four albums with Michael Cretu of Enigma (best known for “Sadeness” and “Return To Innocence”), he felt that the time had come for him to do another album.

“I just had more ideas in my head and decided that it was time to do something solo…I was working with Michael a lot and decided that it was time to get back on the road and just play music for people,” he said in the interview. And what can people expect from the singer of the 1995 Billboard hit “Mishale” when his new album drops later this year?

“[You can expect] various amounts of styles…I’ve been listening to different music over the years…working with Enigma and Sly and Robbie in Jamaica…I’m fusing the music together, rock and roll, reggae, R&B…very song-oriented.”

Donalds was in Jamaica during the Christmas and New Year holidays, and played a live show at Carlos Café that featured Protoje and Sezi. Among the more prominent songs from the catalogue of this remarkably gifted vocalist are “Save Me Now” (featured in South American soap operas), “All Out Of Love” (a powerful and stirring Air Supply Cover), “Somebody’s Baby” (a Jackson Brown cover featured on the critically acclaimed soundtrack of the Oscar-winning movie “Good Will Hunting”), “Tryin’ To Tell Ya”, “Simple Obsession” and “(I’m Not Your) One Night Lover”.
