Caribbean fans of the acclaimed series Ray Donovan will have their television sets glued to HBO tomorrow night (Monday, July 13) for the regional premiere of Season 3 of the hit drama. Multiple award-winning actor Liev Schreiber plays Donovan – a professional fixer to Los Angeles’ affluent class. The new 12-episode season promises more of the searing drama that distinguished the first two seasons.
The series documents the life of Donovan as he tests the moral and legal creeds of society, while manoeuvring a self-imposed alienation from his immediate and extended family drama. The hour-long season premiere introduces Ian McShane (Andrew Finney) and Katie Holmes (Paige Finney) among the fresh faces in the new season. They play a wealthy father and daughter duo in a seemingly mysterious and unorthodox family unit. Donovan finds himself immersed in the billionaire’s world when he is hired to manage the Finney siblings. But the trappings of this association comes with expectations.
All in the family
Ray and his estranged wife Abby (Paula Malcomson) are raising a daughter, Bridget (Kerris Dorsey), and son, Conor (Devon Bagby). Infidelity, emotional unavailability and teen angst are among the elements contributing to the discord that marinates within the walls of the Donovan home, the home in which Ray has declared his father persona non grata. Ray also struggles to distance himself from his ‘fixer’ colleagues Avi (Steven Bauer) and Lena (Katerine Moennig).
His ex-con father Mickey (Jon Voight) wields great influence over Daryl (Pooch Hall) – his youngest son and Ray’s half-brother. There is also a changing of the guard at the Donovan’s boxing establishment. Ray’s Parkinson-stricken ex-boxer brother Terry (Eddie Marsan) is serving time in prison for participating in an ill-fated robbery attempt orchestrated by Mickey. In Terry’s absence, a third brother, Bunchy (Dash Mihok), has assumed the responsibilities of managing the business.
Following its premiere tonight, new episodes of Ray Donovan will be available on HBO GO and HBO On Demand.
